Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L.) is a native Mediterranean species and the member of the Brassicaceae family, traditionally cultivated for both nutritional and therapeutic purposes. It is an annual or biennial plant characterized by a thick green stem, tightly packed clusters of immature flower buds forming the edible head, and broad, waxy leaves arranged alternately.
