Dandelion is a flowering plant in the Asteraceae family that grows worldwide. They are also known as Taraxacum spp., though Taraxacum officinalis is the most common species.

 

Chemistry

Dandelion contains inulin which has been is believed to have anti-diabetic properties. Furthermore, polyphenols, total flavonoids, carotenoids tocopherols, L-ascorbic acid, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin sesquiterpene lactones, traxasterol, and taraxerol, are found as content of this plant.

 

Indications

Dandelion root extract has reported showing a significant slowing effect on liver fibrosis and inducing apoptosis in pancreatic and prostate cancer cells, in scientific studies.

Furthermore, it increases skin cell generation, induces intracellular Ca2+ levels and can be used as a diuretic.
